Hazelhurst Arts Centre
Hazelhurst Arts Centre is a vibrant cultural hub that fosters creativity and artistic expression for people of all ages. Established through the generous bequest of Ben and Hazel Broadhurst, who donated their property to Sutherland Shire Council for community use, Hazelhurst is committed to making art accessible to all, with community and cultural excellence at its heart.
Located in Gymea, just a short walk from the train station, Hazelhurst offers a diverse range of programs for all ages. Little Art Makers introduces young children to art through gallery tours, storytelling, and hands-on activities, while school-aged children can explore painting, drawing, clay, and mixed media in after-school and holiday classes led by practicing artists. Adults can join expert-led workshops in ceramics, printmaking, sculpture, and more.
As a leading arts venue in southern Sydney, Hazelhurst presents major exhibitions of contemporary Australian art in the Hazelhurst Gallery, while the Broadhurst Gallery showcases and sells work by local artists. A year-round program of public events, workshops, and artist talks enriches the experience.
Set within landscaped gardens, Hazelhurst is also a place to relax and connect. Visitors can enjoy a picnic in the tranquil grounds, browse the Gallery Shop’s curated selection of handmade gifts, or unwind with great coffee and a meal at Hazel Kitchen & Bar. Whether you're an artist, art lover, or simply looking for a creative escape, Hazelhurst offers something for everyone.
