Do you have the next Adele in your midst? Think your little cherub has the voice of an angel but not sure where to take their talent?
The Sydney Children’s Choir, part of the Gondwana Choirs organisation, is one of the world’s leading treble vocal ensembles, having forged a reputation for artistic innovation and spell-binding performances for over 30 years.
Founded as a single ensemble by Lyn Williams AM in 1989, it now includes approximately 400 young people, comprising performing choirs and training ensembles.
The Sydney Children’s Choir offers a standard of training and performance unsurpassed in Australia, being recognised for their crystal-clear sound, precision and artistry, and courageous and compelling performance style.
The choir goes beyond the school curriculum, allowing young musicians to extend their knowledge and providing them with world-class performance opportunities including performances at the Sydney Opera House and the opportunity to travel overseas.
And don’t worry about being able to access this wonderful program – there are choirs for every age group from Kindergarten to Year 12, with rehearsals running in both the Sydney CBD and Parramatta.
Through its work over the years, The Sydney Children’s Choir has become one of the leading choirs for young people, providing the space and confidence for them to find their own voice in a friendly and welcoming environment. Helping future stars shine brightly, the choir assists with developing young potential to a professional standard, providing opportunities for singers to perform within and outside of Australia, whilst simultaneously setting them up for future success in all of their musical endeavours.
In addition, the choir places importance on connection to land through close work and ties with Indigenous communities and elders.
For MOTS readers, The Sydney Children’s Choir is offering a free trial rehearsal, where your child can come and test out the choir to see if it’s a good fit for them.
Just contact the choir managers and let them know which week you would like to start, and they will help you find the most suitable choir.
