We know that the final years of schooling can be transformative in a young person’s life, and none more so than for our young women.
An already distinguished school for girls in the Shire, Our Lady of Mercy Catholic College Burraneer is transitioning into a full Year 7-12 college, with enrolments for Year 7 and 11 now open.
As specialists in girls’ education, Our Lady of Mercy aims to foster a deep, lifelong love of learning in every student. The college has modern, HSC-ready facilities and quality, experienced HSC teachers on staff. A boutique setting ensures small senior class sizes, enabling deep connection with syllabus requirements and a culture of timely and effective feedback.
The college has the single-minded aim of empowering young women to develop the skills they need to fulfil their potential in the 21st Century. The school’s values ensure that every girl is known and cared for with dignity and compassion, and receives access to programs which focus on self-worth, positive relationships and empowerment.
As part of the new structure, Our Lady of Mercy Catholic College will introduce the HSC Enrichment Program, a highly unique and individualised Year 11 and 12 student experience.
Under the HSC Enrichment Program, girls will learn how to achieve academically, manage their wellbeing and grow their support network, arming them with the tools necessary to take advantage of a post-secondary world of choices and opportunities. Designed to offer dedicated and bespoke support, the highly personalised program includes three streams; Focused Wellbeing, Academic Mentoring and Supportive Connection.
The program is designed to filter out distractions and create a supportive, stress-managed environment to make the final two years of secondary school not only personally rewarding but a memorable and enriching experience.
The shake-up has been provided in response to growing demand from local families and is part of a wider Sydney Catholic Schools expansion program underway in the Sutherland Shire.
Boys will receive the same opportunity to extend their learning at De La Salle Catholic College Caringbah which is also now taking enrolments for Year 11 and 12. Meanwhile, co-ed college De La Salle Cronulla (soon to be called St Aloysius College) will be transformed into a Year 7-12 secondary school, fully operational by 2027.
Together, the three schools will create a new educational precinct in the heart of the Sutherland Shire benefitting from state-of-the-art facilities, new subject offerings and second-to-none teaching expertise. Relationships between teachers and students at all three schools are fair, supportive and collaborative, allowing students to have a sense of ownership over their learning and school environment.
