How many times have you found yourself turning down invites or de-prioritising your own self-care because weekends are all about the kids – jam-packed itineraries to keep them active and happy?
Whilst we agree that there’s nothing wrong with keeping busy on the weekend, parents of preschoolers in particular might be hoping to take advantage of a few extra Saturdays to themselves before the full schedule of footy, swimming, gymnastics and tennis takes over.
The reality is however, that plenty of Shire families may not be able to rely on relatives close by to step in, and with the cost of babysitting rising along with every other discretionary spend, the thought of putting your child in care on the weekend may be feeling increasingly remote.
Let us introduce you to Chapter 1 Early Learning, the only long daycare in the Shire to offer CCS eligible bookings on Saturdays.

Chapter 1 Early Learning is owned and operated by Kara and Jarrod, both preschool qualified teachers with 15 years’ experience, who see the initiative of providing Saturday care and education as a vital step to remaining flexible and adapting to the changing life commitments of families. Hurrah!
In operation since 2017, the centre is dedicated to delivering the highest level of quality childcare within a purpose built environment. Now with two centres in Miranda, Kara and Jarrod have made many special relationships with local families over the years watching children and their siblings graduate into primary school. It is these relationships that sit at the heart of the daycare, as its approach is built on collaboration with families and a holistic view of children’s education and development.
Saturday daycare program
Saturday care operates much like during the week, driven by a fun, educational program with additional weekly themes such as PJ Day, Circus Day and Jersey Day. The centre is open from 8am to 6pm and will take in children from six weeks to six years old. Parents can book casual care for when they can’t be in two places at once, or secure a permanent, rolling booking to lock in Saturday care for an extended period of time.
Prices will vary depending on your CCS entitlement, but range from $30 to $160 for a full day 8am to 6pm. Fees include breakfast, morning tea, lunch, afternoon tea, nappies, sunscreen and the educational program.
