CHOCOLATE FOR DAYS! That’s what Easter is all about in our house. So much so, that by Monday, we’re well and truly over it… And, it seems like many of you feel the same way, with a few posts in our Facebook community asking for non-sugar Easter ideas.
So, we’ve put together our top five suggestions, and there’s not a foil-wrapped egg in sight…
Dust off your Elf
Bring your Elf on the Shelf out of hibernation and give him an Easter makeover, with little bunny ears and a fluffy tail, ready for some holiday mischief!
Pyjama Party
Buy the kids some cosy cute PJs ready for daylight-saving and the cooler Winter months.
Eggstra- Ordinary Crafternoons
Feeling crafty? Revive the old European Easter tradition of hard boiling and painting chook’s eggs with food colouring and let the kids come up with their own fabulous designs. Once everybody has created their masterpiece, you can peel off the shells and enjoy them in a delicious potato salad.
If you want to get tricky, and you’re not keen to eat eggs after they’ve been painted, search YouTube for how to empty the raw egg with a sharp knife and a syringe, so you can save the contents, and paint the shells with non-edible materials like glitter and paper. You can always avoid using real eggs altogether by cutting out Easter egg shapes from paper and getting the kids to colour them in.
Chalk it up
Send the kids outside to colour in the footpath with ‘egg’ chalk ($4.50 from Big W). Remember to photograph their artwork before hosing off the street.
