UPDATE: Markets have been POSTPONED until Saturday 15th and Sunday 16th May 2021.
The Cambridge Markets were a huge smash with Sutherland Shire families at Christmas, so now they’re coming back to bring you everything you need for a fun family day out and a fabulous Easter.
The Cronulla Easter Market will now be held, Saturday 15th and Sunday 16th May 2021. This time around, the huge open-air markets will return to their original Wanda Beach location- beautiful, beachside Don Lucas Reserve.
Market organiser Madelienne Anderson said “Markets like Cambridge Markets offer a very friendly place for the community to come together, meet, catch up and make a contribution to local small business people.”
“By supporting the sort of micro businesspeople who sell at our markets, you are helping a wide network of families to thrive, while getting things you can’t find elsewhere.”
What’s on offer?
A unique shopping experience
The markets will feature over 180 stalls offering an enormous range of local produce and goods, which you won’t spot at your usual shops. You’ll find unique clothing, swimwear, jewellery, accessories, toys, homewares, textiles and art that you can nab for yourself or purchase for gifting, all while supporting grateful small businesses. Micro brands attending the market include local Eastern Suburbs fashion designers Saint Jane, with sustainable women’s fashion, Pop About Design, offering illustrated framed prints inspired by local areas, Bands of Courage featuring handmade bands, Bondi-based TLV with homemade vegan dips, Savannah Estate Winery from the Hunter Valley, and local distillery companies Buffalo Vale from Ryde, Mobius from Marrickville.
Outdoor, kid-friendly fun
Your kids won’t need any coercing to leave the house when you tell them there are rides, games and activities waiting especially for them- They’ll be racing towards the jumping castles, petting zoo, face painting and arts and crafts! There will even be an appearance from the Easter bunny. The kids (and you!) can also enjoy the live music that will be performed throughout the day (by artists including Kiara, Tom Southey, Angelina Locke, Ria Bricc, Kyle McGuire, Sam Joole, Bonnie Kellett and Fred’s Ginger) in the picturesque alfresco setting. You might even like to suggest that their grandparents take them for a day out instead of loading them up with chocolate the following weekend!
Diverse dining
The markets will be bringing foods from all over the world together in one place, so you can forget about kids fighting over what to have for lunch, or dealing with cries of “Disgusting!” after you’ve spent an hour in the kitchen. Give yourself a break and let the family choose from Thai, American, Vietnamese, Spanish, Israeli, Chinese, Italian and South American. There will also be a bounty of handcrafted, locally grown and produced foods from a high-profile list of small producers. After making your choices, dine together under the large tent, using the outdoor furniture provided, or bring along your own picnic blanket to enjoy eating together on the lawn. Is there really anything better than a lunch chosen from international cuisine that can be had by the beach?!
