How many pictures have you come across on Instagram of toddlers covered in lipstick? From an early age, many little girls, and some boys, take an interest in makeup. It may be because they’ve watched you or older relatives use or wear it. They may have received a kid’s makeup set as a gift, had to wear it for a performance, or maybe they’ve stumbled into the world of Youtube makeup tutorials.
It’s not uncommon for children to witness and want to experience what it’s like to use makeup. Kids are allured and intrigued by colourful eyeshadow palettes, slick lipsticks, fluffy makeup brushes and the visual transformative power of cosmetics.
If you have a young child who seems to be forever at your side when you are “putting on your face” or a tween who is already “borrowing” your bronzer, they will love the upcoming makeup workshops offered by the Bridal Bar.
If you haven’t heard of the Bridal Bar before, it’s the ultimate beauty hub where you can have all your hair and beauty needs met under one roof. The Bridal Bar got its name after its Creative Director, Amy, spent a decade servicing brides and saw the special treatment they received. Amy decided it was time to establish a beauty salon that treated EVERYONE like a bride, whatever the occasion.
During the upcoming winter school holidays, the Bridal Bar will host two different types of workshops for budding beauty enthusiasts.
Little Glams Workshops
Is your child, aged 5-9, already excited about makeup (and maybe even already wearing it for dancing, gymnastics or drama)? Their eyes will light up at the Little Glams Workshop.
Little Glams will be set up with cosmetics and brushes to play with and explore applying makeup to their faces. Staff will be on standby to lend a helping hand but will otherwise not apply makeup on the kids. The minimal makeup look will offer a powder base, glitter eyeshadow, mascara, blush and lipstick. The hour-long session will finish with a catwalk and music where the kids can parade their finest work!
Little Glams Workshop sessions cost $35 for a one-hour session and will be held on:
Wednesday 6th July, 10 am
Friday 8th July, 10 am & 2 pm
Wednesday 13th July, 12 pm
Friday 15th July, 12 pm & 2 pm
Tweens Workshops
The Bridal Bar’s Tween Workshops are suitable for kids aged 10-13. These fun workshops are an early introduction to makeup use employing proper hygiene and will teach tweens:
- That good makeup starts with good skin.
- All about makeup hygiene and how to properly clean your makeup tools.
- How to match cosmetic colours to skin tones.
- The differences between mineral powders and liquid bases.
- Proper makeup removal techniques that allow the skin to breathe.
Participants are encouraged to bring their own makeup or tools, so they can return home with the knowledge of how to use the products they already have correctly. Still, the Bridal Bar will also have plenty available for use.
Tweens Workshops are $45 for a one-hour session and will be held on:
