El Rey is owned by a local husband-and-wife team, with the day-to-day running of the restaurant led by a mum of two who has spent more than 20 years working in hospitality.
After managing multiple venues, she wanted to create a restaurant of her own where the experience extended beyond what arrived at the table. Today, she still spends around 30 hours each week in the venue, welcoming guests, chatting with regulars and making sure each service runs smoothly.
That hands-on approach is central to El Rey. Whether guests are visiting for a milestone celebration or a casual dinner close to home, the team wants everyone to feel welcomed, relaxed and genuinely looked after.
Weekly Specials at El Rey Cronulla
There is something different happening at El Rey almost every day of the week.
Wednesdays are dedicated to birria, with Birria Tacos and Birria Ramen available for $20.
Thursday is Taco and Tequila Night, with $6 tacos and $15 Tommy’s Margaritas served all night. It is an easy choice for a casual dinner with friends, especially when nobody wants to cook.
Happy Hour includes $14 cocktails and margaritas from the entire menu. It runs from 5pm to 6pm on Wednesday and Thursday, 4pm to 6pm on Friday and Sunday, and 4pm to 5pm on Saturday. Kids Eat Free is also available during these selected times.
Friday Lunch with the Kids
El Rey’s Friday Mums & Minis lunch gives local mums another reason to book a table before the weekend begins.
Order any main meal and receive a complimentary glass of wine, while children’s meals are half price. It is a relaxed option for lunch with friends, a family meal or an end-of-week catch-up that both adults and children can enjoy.
Bottomless Weekends and Sunday Plans
For birthdays, group celebrations or a longer lunch with friends, El Rey’s weekend bottomless experience includes two hours of flowing margaritas or spritzes paired with a five-course shared menu.
Sunday brings another reason to visit, with the restaurant’s Steak and Sangria special. Guests can enjoy a 250g Carne Asada served with a glass of sangria for $35.
