If, like us, you’ve been keeping in the loop about the arrival of Bay Central, then you’re likely no stranger to the stores and services it has to offer. There’s the OG’s; ALDI, Dan Murphy’s and Woolworths, along with crowd favourites such as Bakers Delight and Essence Day Spa. Bay Central has something for everyone and the same can be said for the new playground, Livvi’s Place – coming soon to Bay Central.
The result of a collaboration between the Touched by Olivia Foundation and landscape architect David Vago (Habit8), Livvi’s Place will be the first inclusive playground in the Sutherland Shire.
It has been designed to cater to all children, no matter their cognitive or physical abilities, offering them a safe space to imagine, discover and play.
The playground draws inspiration from the rich, local environment such as the Woolooware Bay Mangroves and Cronulla Beach, the area’s indigenous history and of course a blend of local sports, for fans of the Cronulla Sharks.
A giant, wheelchair-friendly, shark structure is the focal point of the playground, where kids can crawl, climb, walk, or roll their way through the mouth of the shark to explore activities such as noughts and crosses.
In addition, other key elements have been incorporated into the playground design to ensure it becomes a destination loved by many. Other key structures that assist with children’s physical and cognitive development include Zoe’s Fairy Garden, incorporating imaginative play, The Nature Walk which includes interpretative signage about local wildlife to assist with literacy skills and general knowledge, and the Jam Zone, which is full of musical instruments to inspire the next budding musician.
Livvi’s Place at Bay Central is soon to be the place that your kids will love exploring and hey, they might even make a new friend whilst they’re at it.
