Meet Lucy – this week’s local mum. Lucy has lived in the Shire her whole life, she loves her job and she laughs a lot. She tell us what she loves about the Shire and shares her fave spot for a sneaky afternoon cocktail.
Where and how long have you lived in the Sutherland Shire?
I have lived in the Sutherland Shire my whole life, my childhood home is in Lilli Pilli, my family and I live in Caringbah North. It is a great family friendly area with lots of young families.
How many children:
I have two amazing children – Mila is three years old and a total bundle of fun, spirit, laughter and stubborness. My baby boy Kai just turned six months and is a cuddly, squishy and a very layed back happy baby.
Favourite park:
We love going to the local park near us on Sunny Side Ave in Caringbah. It has a large piece of grass to run around and have a picnic on and also has a bike track. It caters for all ages of children.
Favourite beach:
We love going to Kurnell as we can take our dog there for a swim and run. The kids can play in the water and sand and the waves are quite small so it is pretty safe for the kids. There are always plenty of shells as well for collecting.
Favourite kid friendly cafe:
We like going to Laneway in Caringbah. It is gated so the kids are contained and out the back is Castlenau Street park. And the best thing is – they have cocktails in the afternoons for the big kids!
Favourite night place:
My bed. Nights out are non existent these days. I do like a sneaky cocktail though and good food, so when we do get a chance we head to Sea Level for a grilled seafood platter and drinks! I dont mind a cheeky desert either!
Work or SAHM:
I am both! I am a nanny by trade and do some after school care taking care of two school aged children along with my own and also work from home as the Nanny and Family Specialist at a nanny and aupair agency MAP Australia. When I only had Mila I was a mummy nanny and it worked well but once I had Kai finding full time mummy/nanny was nearly impossible. Until I applied for a job with MAP Australia and instead the director took me on as her employee.
What keeps me sane:
Being around my friends and family, keeping busy, having a job that I love and laughing! You gotta laugh.
Motherly advice:
Go with the flow. Don’t take life too seriously and when people give you advice, you dont have to take it!
Would you like to inspire us like Lucy has?
If you would like to be our next Local Mum we would love to hear from you! Please tell us about yourself here.
