Meet Shannon Olsen – this week’s local mum. Shannon is a first time mum to a beautiful baby girl named Harvey, she shares with us all her fave local hang outs, where she does her online shopping and why she’s heading back to work soon.
Where and how long have you lived in the Sutherland Shire?
My partner grew up in the Shire, we met in France and we decided to move back here together. We have lived in Caringbah for the last five years.
How many children:
We have a four month old baby girl called Harvey. She is our first baby and we love her to bits!
Favourite thing to do with bubs:
My favourite thing currently would be to go for walks along the esplande with Harvey in her pram. Its such a beautiful walk and I always bump into someone I know and grab coffee on the way home.
Favourite restaurant:
I love Splash Tapas Bar in Cronulla, it’s such good value for money!
Favourite Mother’s Group hangout:
Our Mother’s Group has been all over the place which I love. My fave would have to be the Castelnau Street Park behind The Laneway Cafe.
Work or SAHM:
I am about to start back at work part time and Harvey will go into childcare. I am heading back to work for a few reasons – boss wants me back, we need the money (two mortgages) and I have been missing work! I wish I could take Harvey to work with me. I’m not really wanting to be away from her but it’s all for a better future
Favorite online stores:
I love The Iconic; The items are delivered quickly and if you need to return you can! It takes all my money though, haha.. I also like Audrey and Me pram liners. They are Australian hand made and fantastic quality! There are also lots of great Australian hand made craft stores on Etsy .. I got some dummy chains from a store called Three Roses on there which I love.
Funny mum moment:
I asked my partner for a chisel yesterday while putting together a toy for Harvey. He was so confused “You mean a screw driver, Babe?” Haha, yep that would be what I meant! Along with the usual keys in the fridge etc. haha..
Motherly advice on how to stay sane:
Get out of the house! From the day Harvey was born I’ve made sure I get out at least once a day for a walk, to meet friends at Miranda or visit my partner in the City where he works.
Would you like to inspire us like Shannon has?
