Beginning any new build or renovation is a daunting process. Finding local, reliable tradespeople whose pricing meets your budget is easier said than done and sometimes you may not even realise just how many different trades will be required before your job is done.
Using intel from the ever-helpful Mums of the Shire Facebook Community of mums who’ve gone through it all before you, as well as advice from tried, tested and trusted local tradespeople, we’ve compiled a list of local businesses that come highly recommended.
Building and Renovating contacts in the Sutherland Shire
Architects/Drafters
The first step in turning your dream into a reality begins with speaking to a professional designer about the ideas you have for your home. A great designer will take your inspired ideas, give you practical advice on the best way to maximise your space within the allowed boundaries and help you navigate the process of getting council approval for your home project.
You’ll be in good hands with Build by Design, Lee Fretten Design, Ironbark Architecture or Outline interiors.
Builders/Project Managers/Carpenters
Finding the right builder and project manager for your job can take a lot of the headaches out of organising the “jobs within the job”. Be sure to check the scope of the works included and make a point of asking any prospective builder what’s not included so that when you’re getting quotes you can compare apples to apples and gain a better understanding of how much involvement you’ll need to have.
Have a chat to Build Up Constructions, Tass Construction Group, Sawdust Republic, Cutting Edge Carpentry and Constructions, Streamline Carpentry and construction or Belair Design and Build.
Electricians
There are some things you should never DIY. We consider any and all electrical work (with the exception of maybe changing a light bulb) to fall under this category. For help with any of your electrical needs, get in touch with Spark Ireland Electrical, Ampelect, Bhamtech and Electrical, or Lincoln Brothers Electrical.
Plumbers
A reliable, well-priced plumber can be hard to come by but according to our community of mums there’s quite a few in the Shire. You’ll be in good hands with Sydney City and Suburbs Plumbing, DD Master Plumbers, Up N Plumbing, Shire Care Plumbing, Poseidon Plumbing or Cochrane Plumbing and Drainage.
Tilers
Whether for a bathroom, kitchen, pool or patio, there’s a tiler in the Shire who can help you. Start with L and L Tiling or A.R.T Andrew Robson Tiling.
Glaziers
Beyond impacting the security of your home, choosing the right windows and doors also largely impacts how light and airy your home feels and even your ability to open your space up to entertain guests. For advice that makes a difference, speak to SHEAR Glass and Aluminium or Greater Glass.
Brickies/Renderers
Bricklayer endorsements were perhaps the most difficult to come by but we can recommend trying Wood bricklaying and Sant Bricklaying.
Cabinet makers/Joiners
For beautiful bespoke cabinets and joinery that will turn your space into something special, look no further than Beck Bespoke and Luxe Joinery.
Complete Bathroom and Kitchen solutions
Need someone to guide you through a complete bathroom or kitchen renovation? Save yourself a whole lot of hassle by having a chat to one or more of these local businesses first: Bliss Bathroom Innovation, SJR kitchen & bathroom solutions, Novale Bathrooms, Atwells Kitchens, Oasis Bathrooms and Kitchens, Leading Edge Kitchens.
Roofers
Let’s add messing with a new roof to the list of things you should definitely not attempt. Instead, contact Roof Tek or Inline Metal Roofing. Putting a roof over your head is something they know all about!
Landscapers
Doing up the outside of your home? For stunning street appeal or a fresh backyard renovation, speak to the team at Urban Jungle or Corey Fox Landscaping
