Are you worried your fussy eater isn’t getting the right amount of nutrients in their daily diet? Do you struggle to come up with new meals for your family each night? Would you like some time back in your evenings?
If you answered yes to ANY of these questions, you’ll want to check out Go! Kidz.
Go! Kidz makes super healthy, ready to eat, frozen kids’ meals that are tasty, affordable and quick to cook. Recipes are created with children’s nutritionist Skye Swaney, formerly Senior Dietitian at Australia’s Healthy Kids Association, and meals are snap frozen so you know your kids are getting the best and freshest. Random fact: did you know frozen veggies are now widely considered to outperform or equal fresh produce for nutrient concentration?
All ingredients are natural with no added sugar, preservatives or additives, and each meal has up to three servings of veggies in it making them tasty and healthy.
But please don’t take our word for it! Instead, let’s ask the harshest critics around – kids!
What we ate
There is A LOT of choice on the GoKidz website, with everything from your classic meatballs and pasta to more adventurous nasi goreng and moussaka. Whatever your kids’ palate, you’ll find something for them.
But don’t let the high nutritious value and health rating make you think these meals are bland. Unlike other kids’ food, I would happily have one of these meals for my own dinner, they were that tasty!
We tried the following:
Coconut chicken curry – shredded chicken breast, rice and diced veggies in a mild curry sauce (not too saucy or spicy so picky eaters won’t be put off!)
Chicken nuggets – finally, a healthy nugget! Tender, chicken breast in a wholemeal Panko crumb with quinoa and six seeds, air fried until golden. A standout!
Veggie lasagne – delicious pasta in a creamy, veggie sauce. The veggies were well hidden within the sauce so won’t be picked out! This was inhaled by my never-not-hungry youngest.
Margherita pizzeti – you can’t go wrong with a classic! Super quick to cook, melt in the mouth pizza! A fluffy bread base topped with yummy tomato sauce and cheese. Simple and failsafe!
Pasta bolognese – a delicious meat sauce, pasta was great for little fingers to pick up and explore. Everyone knows it’s not a good bolognese if some of it doesn’t end up on your face!
What else?
Kids can be picky little things – suddenly you find yourself throwing out a fridgeful of items that have passed their expiry dates because you are a personal cook to a teeny tyrant….!
When you have a freezer full of frozen goodies, it not only takes the guesswork out of dinner, but helps keep food wastage at a minimum, AND some dollars in your pocket. I also personally love contactless delivery because sometimes I’d rather not visit the supermarket for the tenth time that week.
Every Go! Kidz meal has between a three to four and a half health star rating and meets the criteria of the NSW Healthy School Canteen Strategy, making them suitable for NSW school canteens and available on the NSW Health Healthy Food Finder website.
There is also a school lunch pack option available online which includes 12 yummy meals and a thermos to keep school-goers well fed and hydrated throughout the day. Genius!
