They say the days are long but the years are short. And oh boy, do we know what they mean! What with the constant feeding, settling and nappy changing, it can be hard to feel like you’re spending any quality time with your little one day to day.
Munchkin Music & Movement knows how you feel.
Created by Shire mum Rebecca Smith, Munchkin Music & Movement is a locally based business specialising in play-based education for babies through to preschoolers. Rebecca felt inspired to start the business to offer children and their carers a meaningful and connected moment in an otherwise chaotic day.
Classes at Munchkin Music & Movement are designed to provide kids with an opportunity to move, learn and thrive all in the comfort of a safe and sensory environment. They have been designed with a paediatric occupational therapist so the structure is ideal for bringing out the best in your child. Not only are activities designed to engage and stimulate their senses, but they also encourage a range of movements that are great for both physical and cognitive development.
When you visit a Munchkin Music class for half an hour you can expect a wide range of activities including; interactive play with musical instruments, singing and moving to music, rhythm and melody focused activities, sensory play with ribbons, scarves, shakers, bells and bubbles, parachute play, bean bag and ball play.
The best part? Munchkin Music classes are run on a drop-in basis so you don’t have to stress about missing lessons due to illness. Held on Wednesdays and Thursdays, each session starts at 10.00am with half-an-hour of free play offered before the class. They are held in the Gymea Bay Resource Centre at 276 Gymea Bay Road. Cost is $10 per child or $15 for two children from the same family. Additional children are an extra $5 thereafter. Visitors can also receive a 10 session package for the reduced rate of $90. Cash and credit cards are both accepted. To see your little darling discovering the world for the first time is truly priceless.
