Alfords Point is one of those suburbs that you likely don’t visit much unless you live there or have friends who do.
Narnia Park, at 48 Coachwood Cres in Alfords Point, was upgraded towards the end of 2019.
It’s green, bushy and peaceful, and we were surprised to find it completely empty when we arrived.
The main playground structure is set on bark and features a slide that’s suitable for all ages, a small rock climbing wall, a climbing net and balance ropes.
Younger kids can make use of the pretend shopfront, binoculars and steering wheels, while older kids will be challenged by the monkey bars and sliding/climbing pole.
There are three swings: a large round netted swing and the standard baby and platform swing.
You’ll also find a large see-saw that can fit four small kids (or be used as a balance board if they prefer!)
We visited at about 11am on a sunny day and the shade cloth was doing a good job of covering the main play equipment, while the surrounding large trees shaded the swings.
We’d brought the scooters just in case, which proved a good move as there’s a decent size scooter path encircling the playground.
We wished we had also brought a footy or soccer ball as there’s a great field directly behind the park. Though we didn’t have to use them on this occasion, according to the Sutherland Shire Council website there are toilets here too.
There’s also some scrub to one side of the park that our kids loved foraging through and making their own fun in.
If you forget, or can’t be bothered, to pack food before you leave the house, Stacey’s chicken and pizza shop is at the top of the street offering plenty of takeaway options for lunch in the park.
There’s a picnic table you can spread it out on and two other park benches for when you need a break, but no bubblers or drinking station so don’t forget your water bottles, and you can leave any rubbish in the bin on the way out.
