A great new source of support for parents of children enrolled in early childhood education and care services in NSW
Whether you’re still sending your young ones to daycare or preschool or not, I think all of us have a new-found level of appreciation for both teachers and stay at home parents.
Our community of mums is made up of essential workers, business owners, stay-at-home-mums, bread-winners and brand new mums. Many mums have never worked from home before and are now trying to juggle at least part-time work with minding little kids and teaching older kids.
If this describes you, then you know that trying to think, let alone work, when you have a child or two pulling on your clothes, begging you to play with them, or demanding their 15th snack before 10am is nearly impossible.
Even mums who don’t have paid-work to balance may have a newborn on their hip and almost certainly have a laundry list of errands, which they’re used to being able to tick off their list when their kids are at daycare or school.
We’re trying to balance being good mums, good teachers, finances, safety and sanity. And we’re all looking for inspiration about how to maintain the well-being and education of our children during this pandemic.
Thankfully, some reliable help has surfaced.
To provide families with a reliable platform that shares the government’s most recent advice and updates as they happen, the NSW Department of Education has established a Facebook page dedicated to NSW Early Childhood Education.
They’re responsible for regulating early childhood education and care in NSW, so if you want to stay in touch with how they’re working to support the best quality education and care for your children then following their Facebook page is a must.
You can also use their page to access resources that can support your child’s learning and wellbeing during COVID-19.
Their Learning from Home guides offer activities for babies, 3-5 year olds and kids of all ages and even provides an example of a weekly schedule that you can use to give some structure to your week.
With every state operating differently, we recommend you follow the new NSW Early Childhood Education page on Facebook for updates on the early childhood education and care sector in NSW.
