Ensure your child’s car seat is fitted correctly and safely with this free child restraint checking and installation service provided by Sutherland Shire Council.

Qualified installers will inspect your child restraints and provide professional advice to help keep your little ones safe while travelling. The service is available exclusively to Sutherland Shire residents, with up to two vehicles per family eligible for checking each calendar year. Please note that while the service is free, charges may apply for any replacement parts supplied.

Engadine’s town centre is set to come alive for one of the Shire’s biggest free community events, with the Engadine Street Festival returning on Sunday 30 August.

From 9am to 3pm, Old Princes Highway and Station Street will be transformed with more than 200 market stalls, street food, live entertainment, amusement rides and plenty to keep the kids busy.

Foodies will have plenty to work their way through, with some of Sydney’s popular food names joining the line-up alongside local favourites. Expect matcha from Cha Cha Cha Matcha and Chayuu Matcha, Crumbl Cookies, wood-fired pizza, Greek souvlaki, Colombian arepas, Portuguese tarts, dumplings, paella, doughnuts, honey balls and more.

Local craft distillers including Banks & Solander, Finders, Karu and Port Jackson Distilling Co. will also be there showcasing Shire-made spirits.

For the kids, there’ll be amusement rides, face painting, roving entertainers and the return of the Reptile Man for a hands-on native wildlife experience. Live music and performances from local schools, dance groups and martial arts organisations will run throughout the day too.

You can also browse more than 200 stalls filled with handmade jewellery, candles, homewares, fashion, gifts, gourmet produce and plenty of locally made finds.

Best of all, entry and entertainment are free, making it an easy day out for the whole family.

The town centre will be closed to traffic for the festival, so visitors are encouraged to leave the car at home where possible or plan ahead for parking and transport.
